About Michael Smith Music
Michael Allen Smith grew up in Davenport and Port Byron, Illinois, surrounded by music and the open roads of the Midwest. With a family legacy of country musicians and decades spent as a racer, mechanic, and storyteller, Smith brings authentic blue-collar perspective to his craft. In late 2025, after discovering the power of honest songwriting, he began channeling his lifetime of experiences into original music under the name Mike Smith and the Dry Creek Bandits.
Drawing inspiration from legends like Waylon Jennings, Garth Brooks, Jerry Reed, and Billy Strings, Smith creates music that reflects the people, places, and memories that shaped him—small-town America, dirt tracks, country roads, family traditions, and hard work. His catalog ranges from heartfelt country ballads and racing anthems to humorous story songs, each one rooted in genuine lived experience and the belief that every story is worth telling.
